Harry Partch (1901-1974) was one of the most individualistic composers of all time shattering the centuries-old model of one tuning system for Western music. Internationally recognized guitarist, composer, author and broadcaster, John Schneider and his seven member ensemble Partch will take the audience on a fantastic tuned percussion, micro-tonal journey. You'll see and hear 13 faithful reproductions of Partch's cool and original instruments (cloud chamber bowls, giant exotic marimbas and one of a kind string instruments) in action in a program of unusual, hip, fresh and unexpected music. |
