GP 2024’s Best Of: Djs and Diversity
In 2024, our DJs brought some serious energy to Grand Performances, turning every night into a celebration of different genres, cultures, and communities. They didn’t just play music—they took us on musical journeys, creating unforgettable vibes and making sure everyone felt included. It was more than just entertainment; they set the stage for a welcoming, electric atmosphere.
DJ Wyldeflower, 07/20/2024
At Daymé Arocena’s show, DJ Wyldeflower and Pan Dulce kicked things off with a Caribbean-inspired set that doubled as a music history lesson. Wyldeflower broke down the roots of Cuban music while Pan Dulce got the crowd moving with steel drum and soca beats. This mix of music and education made the night not just fun, but meaningful too.
DJ WeirdoWithSoul, 06/08/2024
For Soulnic Live, WeirdoWithSoul, Roxcizzle, and Drack Muse threw a house music party for the ages, celebrating 40 years of the genre. Their sets took us through the soulful beginnings of house and into today’s modern electronic scene. The crowd? A perfect mix of new festival-goers and old-school house fans, all dancing together and showing just how inclusive house music still is.
DJ Gia Fu, 08/03/2024
One of the standout moments was at the Celia Cruz Tribute. DJ Gia Fu, all the way from Hong Kong, had the crowd moving with deep salsa tracks before Havana Secret hit the stage. Her set had everyone, from seasoned salsa dancers to first-timers, filling up the plaza. It was a true community celebration, honoring Celia Cruz and the spirit of salsa.
DJ Kita, 08/17/2024
At the Madison McFerrin show, DJ Kita set a chill, soulful vibe with a mix of R&B, soul, and contemporary hits from artists like SZA and Erykah Badu. Her smooth transitions created the perfect lead-in to McFerrin’s performance, bringing the audience together in a moment of shared calm before the main event.
Our DJs weren’t just spinning tracks—they were shaping the whole experience. From house to salsa, Afrobeats to jazz, they reflected the global sounds of LA. With such diverse genres, there was something for everyone, and they made sure each event was a place where everyone belonged.
Looking back on 2024, it’s clear our DJs were the heartbeat of Grand Performances. They made every event more lively, inclusive, and unforgettable. We can’t wait to see how they continue to shape the magic in future seasons!
