On Saturday (11am - 6pm), Head Wraps In The Park offers a fashion bazaar filled with music, food, fellowship, head wrap tutorials and the celebration of African culture and beauty.
Last weekend's Dilla Fest was beyond special! Shout out to everyone who came out to celebrate the life of a legend.

Jacque Hammond and Qur’an Shaheed
Friday August 13th, Grand Performances presents a live performance from Jacque Hammond and Qur’an Shaheed. Their music blends the organic feel of old beloved soul classics with the punch and appeal of contemporary music.
Jacque Hammond is a genre-bending singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. She is a driven, passionate, and charismatic artist with a unique approach to R&B. Her music blends the organic feel of old beloved soul classics with the punch and appeal of contemporary music. Her signature guitar stylings mesh with soulful nuances of her voice to create an imaginative song catalogue all her own. After picking up a used guitar in 2011, the instrument has been a key component of her songwriting and evolution as an artist. Originally from Joliet, Illinois, she moved to L.A. in 2012 to pursue music. She released her first album Elbow Room in 2016, which led her song “Two” to be featured on OWN Network’s Original TV show Queen Sugar.
Qur'an Shaheed is a pianist, poet, singer and songwriter based in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, CA. She has been playing piano since the age of four trained extensively in classical music through the expertise of her mother Sharon Shaheed and grandmother Monique Simpson. Since 2012 she has been developing her practice as a songwriter alongside her solo piano and ensemble work. She released the album Process with producer Jesse Justice and Preference Records, in 2020 and regularly performs in and around Los Angeles. Her sound is innovative, highly personal and experimental, incorporating elements of improvisation as well as neo-classical and neo-soul techniques.
Head Wraps in the Park
The Head Wraps in the Park Festival, the brainchild of Fatima Dodson, a local business owner in Los Angeles, has created a safe space for women to celebrate wearing head wraps. Filled with food, fun, fellowship, head wrap tutorials and the celebration of African culture and beauty the event hopes to create an environment that fosters creativity, celebrates individuality, and encourages community.
