Afro-Latino music and modern DJ culture are showcased when two WaterCourt favorites return for this highly energetic program of traditional Colombian and Peruvian music brought into the digital age. L.A.’s own electronic trio Palenke Soultribe’s signature sound is where Colombian-influenced electronica, pop, and rock seamlessly blends turntables and looped laptop grooves. Peru’s Novalima (an energetic crowd favorite from 2009) seamlessly fuses cajon-based folkloric rhythms with funk, salsa, dub, and hip hop beats to create a futuristic, and cutting-edge sound.
