Riffat Sultana -Women's voices braid together innocence, experience and peace into sonic magic. Riffat Sultana channels 11 generations of family musicians from India and Pakistan.

This dynamic family band brings heartfelt poetry, traditional Native American harmonies, gospel, Piedmont blues and North Carolina string band? traditions together to create an unexpected, both reverent and lively musical combination.

Born in Ethiopia, Meklit is known for her soulful performing style, and for combining jazz, folk, and East African influences in her music.

Led by matriarch, Tonya Holy Elk Locklear (Lumbee/Oglala Lakota) and daughter Layla Locklear (Lumbee/Oglala Sioux/Tuscarora) - this dynamic family band brings heartfelt poetry, traditional Native American harmonies, gospel, Piedmont blues and North Carolina string band​ traditions together to create an unexpected, both reverent and lively musical combination.
