Jacque Hammond is a genre-bending singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. She is a driven, passionate, and charismatic artist with a unique approach to R&B. Her music blends the organic feel of old beloved soul classics with the punch and appeal of contemporary music. Her signature guitar stylings mesh with soulful nuances of her voice to create an imaginative song catalogue all her own. After picking up a used guitar in 2011, the instrument has been a key component of her songwriting and evolution as an artist. Originally from Joliet,Illinois, she moved to L.A. in 2012 to pursue music. She released her first album Elbow Room in 2016, which led her song “Two” to be featured on OWN Network’s Original TV show Queen Sugar. Her song “Stuck” also made a debut on Tribeca Film’s and Hulu’s original documentary “Ballet After Dark”. Hammond continues to intrigue audiences in the LA area, opening for artists like Sonnymoon at venues such as the Freehand LA, Catch One, and more. Her latest EP Green is a funky new spin on her classic sound. It’s all about spontaneous energy, uplifting melodies, and emotional vocal performances that connect with the audience on a deeper level.
Qur'an Shaheed (b. 1992, Pasadena, CA) is a pianist, poet, singer and songwriter based in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, CA. She has been playing piano since the age of four trained extensively in classical music through the expertise of her mother Sharon Shaheed and grandmother Monique Simpson. Since 2012 she has been developing her practice as a songwriter alongside her solo piano and ensemble work. She released the album Process with producer Jesse Justice and Preference Records, in 2020 and regularly performs in and around Los Angeles. Her sound is innovative, highly personal and experimental, incorporating elements of improvisation as well as neo-classical and neo-soul techniques. Shaheed often collaborates with others and has worked with Koreatown Oddity, filmmaker Vashni Konin and the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra (of which her father Nolan Shaheed is also a member). She is the keyboardist for Jimetta Rose's gospel choir The Voices of Creation. In 2020 she paired up with Chloe Scallion for dublab + Femmebit's The Art of Performance programme, was interviewed by KCRW for their Private Playlist series and featured in a special mixtape project by waltz for Gucci Shibuya Parco in Tokyo. Shaheed is also engaged in composing for moving image and film scoring, particularly drawn to projects that reflect on society, history and unifying acts.
