New Zealand’s award-winning Indian Ink Theatre Company has established a reputation for offering psychological insight wrapped in a package of good plain laughs, luminous performances and brilliant staging.

The Guru of Chai, the company’s U.S. debut, tells a story that connects the lives of a poor chaiwallah (tea seller), a young girl, a policeman in love and a disreputable poet – all played out against the backdrop of contradictions between technology and ancient gods in modern day India.
