Grand Performances' Journey Through Brazilian Music Events Cancelled
Yesterday, the City of Culver City’s City Manager directed city staff to cancel all nonessential City-sponsored events of over 50 people. The City Manager’s decision to cancel large gatherings is a precautionary measure. Currently, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommend social distancing when there is significant community transmission of the novel coronavirus. As of yesterday, Los Angeles County has 17 confirmed cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), only one of which was community spread.
In a recent press release, LA County Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer, PhD, MPH, MEd, noted, “With the discovery of community spread yesterday, we will continue to see more cases of COVID-19 in LA County. With more cases, we are urging people with underlying health conditions, pregnant women and the elderly to practice social distancing by avoiding non-essential travel, public events, community gatherings, and indoor venues.”
The City will continue to work closely with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to protect the health and safety of our Culver City residents, visitors and staff. Learn more about the Coronavirus on the County’s website.
As a result of this mandate from the city, Journey Through Brazilian Music events (March 21, March 28, and April 11) are now cancelled.
