GP presents STEVEN REIGNS COLA 2020 Fellowship
Los Angeles - Grand Performances (GP), the longest-running presenter of high quality free programs in downtown LA, is proud to announce Steven Reigns’s COLA 2020 Individual Artist Fellowship Feature Presentation, premiering on YouTube and Facebook on Saturday July 18th, 2020 at 5:00pm PST.
This cinematic experience is the second installment of Grand Performances’ Summer 2020 series of online Feature Presentations, continuing the organization's mission to inspire community, celebrate diversity, and unite Los Angeles through free access to global performing arts.
Steven Reigns’ performance is part of GP’s long-standing history of collaboration with COLA (City of Los Angeles) Department of Cultural Affairs, which honors creative artists with distinguished records of innovation and experimentation.
This summer, due to restrictions on public gatherings, GP has pivoted its programming online with a series of weekly livestream Artist TAKEOVERS on Facebook and Instagram featuring intimate performances from artists at home during quarantine. In addition to the livestreams, Grand Performances is also showcasing Feature Presentations, a series of cinematic performances that debuted on July 11th with COLA 2020 Fellow Mia Doi Todd and continuing with Steven Reigns.
Steven Reigns is a Los Angeles-based poet and educator and was appointed the first Poet Laureate of West Hollywood. Reigns holds a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Clinical Psychology, and is a fourteen-time recipient of the Los Angeles’ Department of Cultural Affairs’ Artist in Residency Grant.
Reigns has lectured and taught writing workshops around the country to LGBT youth and people living with HIV, and facilitates the monthly Lambda Lit Book Club, the largest monthly LGBTQ book club in the country. Alongside over a dozen chapbooks, he has published two collections of poetry, and edited ‘My Life is Poetry,’ the first-ever autobiographical poetry collection for LGBT seniors.
