LA Jazz with Black Nile

Wow, what an amazing crowd last weekend -- check the photos! We have an exciting month ahead, with shows featuring next-generation local artists and international superstars.

  • This weekend, we're celebrating LA's modern jazz renaissance with World Stage featuring Black Nile and Linafornia.

  • Next Saturday July 23, we're partnering with the Pakistan Arts Council to present a very special performance by Ali Sethi, who continues to sit atop the global pop charts with his worldwide smash hit "Pasoori."

  • KCRW Summer Nights returns to Grand Performances on July 30 for our final concert of July featuring multi-instrumentalist Sly5thAve -- and we just announced our next collaboration with KCRW on September 3 with Allison Russell and ÌFÉ

If you've missed any of our recent concerts, all of last month's shows are now available on GP's YouTube.

Looking forward to seeing you back at California Plaza soon!

July 16 - Black Nile

This Saturday, July 16th, we're excited to host LA jazz duo Black Nile. These two native LA brothers Aaron & Lawrence Shaw bring a rare energy and dynamism to their music. The Shaw brothers are carrying the torch for Leimert Park, the storied epicenter of west coast jazz. This show is presented in partnership with the mighty World Stage.

Also performing is beat maestro Linafornia, whose style was once described as "sounding like a blend of Madlib vintage soul claps and Organized Noize inspired bottom swing," by HipHopDX.

Set Times:
6:00pm - DJ Carlos Niño
7:00pm - Linafornia
7:45pm - DJ Carlos Niño
8:30pm - Black Nile
