Pasoori in LA

We have a very special show this Saturday July 23 featuring Ali Sethi, who continues to light up the internet with his worldwide smash hit "Pasoori." 

With 270 million views on YouTube, "Pasoori" hit #1 on Spotify's "Viral 50 - Global" chart and was recently featured in Disney's "Ms. Marvel."

More than just a popular tune, "Pasoori" has stuck a cultural nerve, serving as a rallying call for unity, celebrating the power of love to overcome barriers. The song has exploded into a massive internet sensation, with hundreds of viral cover version shared on social media by adoring fans.

On Saturday July 23, Grand Performances presents Ali Sethi at California Plaza in partnership with Pakistan Arts Council (Los Angeles) and the Aga Khan Museum. Also performing is Discostan, a diasporic discotheque which imagines past, present and future soundscapes from Beirut to Bangkok via Bombay.

Ali Sethi is a rather unconventional pop star. The son of award-winning dissident journalists, both of whom are also politicians, Ali Sethi graduated from Harvard, and initially made a name for himself as an author, with his critically-acclaimed debut novel in 2009.

As a musician, Sethi is known for breaking social norms and interweaving his live performances with political commentary.
