GP WITH KCRW’S SUMMER NIGHTS

WHAT:

Grand Performances and KCRW’s Summer Nights present two special shows, the first this Saturday, July 30th featuring Sly5thAve and DJ sets with KCRW’s SiLVA. Grammy-award winning Sly5thAve is the project of multi-instrumentalist, producer, arranger and composer Sylvester Uzoma Onyejiaka II, whose sophisticated compositions are shaped by his faith in hip hop, and deep understanding of soul, R&B and jazz. Sly5thAve brings classical musicianship to hip hop culture. He's built a following over the years rearranging hits from the likes of Dr. Dre or Kendrick Lamar into sweeping orchestral movements. He also has a great new album out of all-original material 'Agua de Jamaica.'

SiLVA is an LA producer, DJ, and radio personality combining her broad-stroke in popular culture, with a love for dance music, disco, oldies, and funk.

Summer Nights is KCRW’s signature outdoor summer event series that come alive through partnerships with Southern California’s most-esteemed cultural institutions. The second special show will be on September 3rd featuring Allison Russell, ÌFÉ and opening DJ sets from KCRW’s Raul Campos.
